CALL MPD FOR ANSWERS
Boo Boo, a black trans woman was brutally hit by a car on the night of the fourth. Other than it being a hit and run, very little information has been released from MPD. On the 4h of July there were six shootings and a stabbing. All information on those cases was released, but MPD has yet to release any information about Boo Boo or the hit and run. MPD is sending the message that certain crimes and certain victims are more of a priority than others. We are demanding MPD release the information regarding Boo Boo’s hit and run and MPD’s response publicly so those who care about her the most can know what happened, and so that MPD can be held accountable for their (in)actions. #JusticeforBooBoo

Script to Call In to MPD:
My name is [Your Name] and I’m calling as a resident of the District (or I work/am a student/etc in DC) to demand the release of information on and escalation in MPD’s response to the violence against Boo Boo, a black trans woman on the night of July 4th, 2017.
Boo Boo was hit by a motor vehicle that then left her stranded in NOMA, near the intersection of 5th and K NW. Boo Boo fights for her life in the ICU while information regarding her case is unavailable to those who care about her.
BooBoo’s case is still considered a hit and run, has not been properly escalated to a hate crime, nor has there been sufficient investigation of evidence or call for witnesses. This is unacceptable and this kind of systemic racism and transmisogyny must end. BooBoo deserves justice, and until we see movement in her case, we see MPD’s actions as direct complicity in violence against trans women of color in DC.
